Occupational Health Physiotherapist

Physiotherapists provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment for Musculo-skeletal conditions such as back pain, strains and sprains. Optima Health Physiotherapists have all received additional training in occupational health that meets the standards of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Occupational Health and Ergonomics (ACPOHE).

Occupational Health Advisor

An Occupational Health Advisor is a nurse that has completed additional training in occupational health and can provide assessments regarding fitness to work. They produce an impartial, confidential, and comprehensive report to both the employee and employer regarding work capability and any workable adjustments.

Occupational Health Physician

An Occupational Health Physician (OHP) is a doctor that has completed additional training and has specialised in occupational health. They are accredited by the Faculty of Occupational Medicine and deal with complex cases including co-morbidities, or cases that could potentially lead to termination of employment on ill-health grounds or ill-health retirement.

Reason for Referral

Required Information

All of our clinical reports will include as standard:

  • The employee's current health status and prognosis.
  • When they are likely to return to work, if currently absent, and if any phased return to work plan should be considered.
  • Advice on their functional ability for their role and if they are fit to perform it.
  • Any restrictions, adaptations, or adjustments to their role or hours that need to be considered and for how long these should be in place.
  • If applicable UK legislation including the Equality Act 2010 and Disability Discrimination Act (NI) Order 2006 is likely to apply, and if so, what adjustments should be considered.
